Love yourself and express your inner beauty
November 5, 2018
Do you love yourself? Many took a moment to reply to this question. If I had asked: “do you love your job?” Or “do you love your children?” Or “do you love your pet” would the answers be more spontaneous? I noticed that when questioned about our love relationship with ourselves, we tend to think about all our personal aspects we want to fix first. Our mental inaudible conversation goes like this: “if only I could lose those 10 kg, then I would be lovely”; “if only my acne was completely erased from my face, then I could be loveable”; “if only I could get rid of that cellulite, then I would be presentable”; “if only I was more toned”; “why can’t I have long bouncy hair like my friend?”. Do these sentences sound familiar? You are not alone.
We live in an era in which technology allows us to be connected in a way we have never been before. It is a visual world that wants nothing but perfection. Social media exacerbates the constant self display, adding pressure on us to appear happy and flawless all the time. But we are humans, we are not perfect. We absorb unconsciously all the re-touched images of perfect make-up, stylish clothes, toned Barbie bodies and glossy shiny hair. It makes us hate our imperfections more and more. What about our qualities? What about our abilities? What about the positive impact we have in our families and communities? Have we forgotten about it all?
What do you love about yourself? Can you make a list of your top 10 positive traits? You see, we have to make the conscious effort to remind ourselves our intrinsic good. First, we need to be able to accept ourselves with both our strengths and our flaws. If we can’t love ourselves unconditionally, why would we expect the others to do so? People reflect back to us, the projected image of our intimate self bond.
At ADILA, we believe that beauty is harmony. The syncronisation between your body, mind and spirit. Being true to yourself. Having the courage to be who you are. Challenge yourself out of your comfort zone. Bringing your own mix of colours to the rainbow of life. Our daily life experiences reflect our previous and current choices. That is liberating: we can choose to be happy, healthy and beautiful. We can choose to love ourselves first. When we are overwhelmed by self love and we are full. We will be overflowing, we will have enough love and resources to share with others. If we start giving from a half cup, we will soon be depleting ourselves and resentment will take hold of us with its spiral of negativity.
There is something unique about you. What is it? Find it. Love and cherish it and fearlessly channel your inner beauty through your abilities. Are you a creative? Create! Are you a scientist? Research! Are you a Mum? Love and raise good world citizen! Are you writer? Take us into your world. Anything done with love grows. It has a special touch. What is your special touch? There is something that you can do that nobody can do. The world needs it. It’s your mission to find it inside you and bring it to humanity with love.
With much love,
Adila
